Tying Revert Organisations Together

On Sunday 24th January 2016, iERA’s Muslim Now department was invited to the second Ties UK conference by Ameena Blake, at the Muslim Student House in Birmingham. The event was organised to help support organisations working with new Muslims.

The event started with registration and refreshments, followed by opening statements from Ties UK. Three interesting presentations were then delivered by Zain of Nottingham Hubb, Yasmin from Eden Houses UK, and Ray Douglas of the Prison Project, all highlighting the great new Muslim support work carried out by local organisations across the UK that had been supported by Ties UK.

After lunch and Asar prayers, Ties UK Director Ameena Blake delivered an interactive group workshop on strategic planning and vision, and this was designed to help take organisations to the next level in terms of long term strategy and vision.

Following this, there was another workshop delivered by Kaushar Tai, Director of Aksaa Ltd entitled “Dawah in the Workplace”; this workshop was designed to help communicate the message of Islam to non-Muslim colleagues.

The day ended with the opportunity for organisations to network and for them to submit their funding application proposals to Ties UK.

The day was a great success as new Muslim organisations, including Muslim Now, showcased their activities, and have pledged to work together to help new Muslims in our communities. Following on from event, Ties UK said: “One of the clear areas of need for our organisations seems to be the communication and creation of support networks for our new brothers and sisters.”
