1. Guidelines for Online Engagement
Anyone who signs-up to the iERA One Reason (OR) chat not only needs to attend our online Dawah Training course, but also needs to have a solid understanding of the GORAP (God’s existence, Oneness, Revelation and Prophethood) methodology and know how to apply it when conveying the message of Islam.
The GORAP methodology is designed to help non-Muslims understand the core message of Islam; namely, that we believe in God as the only One worthy of being worshipped and the One who sent the message of Islam. In other words, GORAP is a way of justifying why Islam is the truth.
It is a requirement that all our OR Chat Ambassadors are trained and only use this methodology when conversing with non-Muslims, without digressing on to other topics – whether that is politics or controversial topics such as Islam’s penal code, views on LGBTQ and other such issues. By assuming the role of Ambassador means that you are a representative of iERA on the Chat Service and we expect you not to talk about anything that goes against our policies, values and ethics.
Should anyone on the Chat pressure you to share your views on an issue that is controversial and can possibly be misinterpreted or misused during a conversation, then you need to avoid answering it. In this situation or any situation that you are not entirely sure of, ask your line manager for guidance. If you intentionally discuss matters that move away from the iERA training programme, you are no longer representing iERA and we would consider this a serious breach of our code of conduct which could lead to disciplinary action being taken.
2. Workplace and Out-of-Hours Conduct
Within any volunteering organisation, safeguarding of its staff and its customers cannot be compromised and iERA takes its responsibility concerning this matter very seriously. So to prevent any such related issues we require our volunteers to only communicate with each other within our defined channels and according to our code of conduct. Any volunteer found to be communicating in a way that could be considered as harassment, be it of a sexual nature or otherwise, we will take immediate disciplinary action. To ensure quality of service and compliance, we have mechanisms in place to monitor our defined communication channels so any communication outside of this will be considered a serious breach and could lead to disciplinary action being taken.
3. Misuse of the IERA Brand
As a member of the OR Chat, you are also a representative of iERA. However, outside of your role as Ambassador, you are not allowed to use iERA’s name or branding to conduct or promote any unauthorised activities. As a chat Ambassador dealing with Muslims and non-Muslims, we require you not to contact other volunteers or chat customers, be they Muslim or non-Muslim outside of the agreed channels of commucation.
