Azad Mohamed

Azad Mohamed is an iERA Speaker, da’ie and social worker.  He converted to Islam over 20 years ago and has since studied the Islamic Sciences in a broad spectrum of mediums.  Azad completed the 3 year Arabic immersion program in Syria along with completing 1 year at Al-Azhar University in Egypt. He also received Imam training at the University of Damascus and He holds Ijaza’s in Imam Nawawi’s 40 hadith and Sahih al-Bukhari. In addition, he studied Islamic Studies and Tafseer with the late Dr. Israr Ahmed. Azad is currently studying Social and Political Science at the University of Maryland, University College.

Presently, Azad is on the board of Directors at ISWA in Maryland and serves as the acting Assistant Imam there. He is married with 2 kids and owns a small IT business. He has been active in the DMV area for 10 years in the capacity of delivering khutbahs, teaching Arabic and Islamic Studies to Adults and Middle School students and organizing dawah outreach events.
