London, UK – The Islamic Education and Research Academy (iERA) would like to thank and congratulate Channel 4 News for their series of segments earlier this week entitled “Britain’s Niqab”. This series represented a watershed in the way women who wear the veil are portrayed as each programme showed intelligent, spiritual and empowered women who explained why they chose to wear the niqab.
In line with the prophet Muhammad’s (may peace and blessings be upon him) saying “Whoever does not thank people does not thank God”, we feel we should acknowledge and appreciate Channel 4’s effort to show the true side of Muslim women which transcended all the negative stereotypes that people have about them due to ignorance and misrepresentation by other sections of the media.
Please do take the time and thank Channel 4 by going to their feedback form found here.
We encourage other broadcasters to follow Channel 4’s lead and show things as they really are without the interference of spin and political agendas.
But what really makes Muslim women choose to adhere to the Islamic dress code? Why are more and more European women choosing Islam as a way of life? To unravel this, iERA is proud to announce the launch of their “Secrets of a Muslim Woman” project found on our iERA Sound Cloud channel.
This has been accompanied by a landmark advertising campaign where a full page spread will appear in the Metro Newspaper on Monday 28th October demystifying misconceptions about Islam and Muslim women in particular.
iERA is an international organisation committed to educating and informing humanity about, and inviting to, the truth and noble message of Islam.
