iERA trustee and co-founder, Yusuf Chambers, travelled to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to host the Dubai International Peace Convention (DIPC) 2014. The convention promotes the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for World Peace (MRAWP) in order to accurately and fairly highlight Islam’s teachings of peace, as a doctrine that promotes harmony, tolerance and moderation. The Award also aims to build bridges of cooperation between diverse cultures, thereby fortifying international relations. Many internationally-renowned speakers addressed DIPC such as Yusuf Estes, Abdul Bary Yahya and the world-famous reciter of the Quran, Mishary Rashid Al Afasy. Yusuf Estes declared, “The real source of happiness is inner peace, which comes from wanting what we get and not from getting what we want”. Abdul Bary Yahya said “For peace, we must work for justice”, whilst Shaikh Al Afasy went on record to say “Our faith in Allah empowers each and every one of us to make a difference in the world and promote peace”.
Yusuf Chambers returned to Dubai in June to present a 3-day course entitled ‘Challenge of Dawah’ organised by the Jumeira Islamic Learning Centre in Dubai. Yusuf explained the importance and obligation of dawah (inviting people to Islam), motivated the attendees and covered iERA’s repertoire of dawah training.
