Then We made you successors in the land after them so that We may observe how you will do”.
[Quran, Chapter 10, Verse 14]
The above verse, along with others, points to the important responsibility human beings have with the Earth.
On Saturday 7th March 2015, alongside the ‘Time to Act 2015’ demonstration against climate change, the Islamic Education & Research Academy (iERA) is launching its very first environmental campaign entitled ‘Islam is Green’.
The event will see the iERA team engaging with members of the public, and educating them on the Islamic perspective on environmental care and preservation. The www.iera.org/islam-is-green is a toolkit designed to empower Muslims in tackling climate change and fulfilling their religious duties towards nature.
Muslims in the UK are as concerned about environmental issues as the wider community and will be working with people of all faiths and none to raise awareness within society to the dangers posed by environmental degradation.
The iERA team will be active throughout the day engaging with the general public at the ‘Time to Act 2015’ rally, which will begin at Lincoln’s Inn Fields, WC2A 3PF London at 12:30 pm.
